How Hijri dates are set in Qatar
Qatar announces the start of Hijri months — including Ramadan, Shawwal (Eid al-Fitr) and Dhu al-Hijjah (Eid al-Adha) — through its official moon-sighting authority. The dates shown here are calculated with the Umm al-Qura calendar, Saudi Arabia's official calendar, as a reference.
Most months the two agree, but they can differ by a day when the crescent is sighted (or not) differently. If the local date is one day ahead or behind, use “Your local Hijri date differs?” under the date to shift all dates on this site; the setting is saved in your browser.
